TGIF! Oh, wait, nevermind...

On one hand, it's Friday and Fridays are always liberating just knowing the weekend starts TODAY (or at least when work is done today).  On the other hand, I know that I'm working full days on Saturday and Sunday as well so really there is no weekend in my future.  Today was day 4 of bootcamp for me.  I skipped yesterday because pollen is waging a war with my head.  I went today but I was at the back of the pack for everything.  Coach even called me out on it when he saw me coming in last from our interval runs.  So I'm thankful for a weekend break from bootcamp even if my regular job is still calling my name!

I've got to get ready for work and get some stuff done.  Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Day 2 - Bootcamp

Whew!  I'm tired.  Yesterday when I got home from camp I made a protein smoothie, got ready for work and was out the door on Cloud 9.  I'm telling you there was an endorphin party going on in my head.  For the majority of the day I was giddy as all get out and cracking jokes left and right.  I've always wondered about that "runners high" people claim to get but that I've never experienced.  If that was what I was feeling yesterday, I may have to start marathon training.

This morning at bootcamp I upgraded to 6lb weights.  Doesn't seem like much does it?  WELL IT IS!  I can feel every muscle in my body today and although I'm sore, I love feeling like they're all getting used.  Use it or Lose it my Papa used to say.  I didn't have the same energy today, I think I really need to get to bed earlier.  I'm curious to see how my energy levels fluctuate over this month.  Went to the store to stock up on some healthy foods (hey if you're gonna go at, might as well go at it all the way!)

Well....I'm gonna go vacuum, do a little work, and head to bed.  Let's hope I can move in the morning!

Boot Camp Here I Come

I'm nervous....I'm starting a women's bootcamp tomorrow morning at.....5:30AM!  I really should be in bed already but this weekend just flew by.  I spent all Friday afternoon at the car place taking care of my 90k+ mileage Honda followed by a pedicure as a reward (does there really need to be a reason for such a reward?)  Saturday, the man and I drove down to my cousin's for some family time.  It was so beautiful outside this weekend we were hardly in the house but to sleep.  We spread out 27lbs of crawfish to share with the neighbors and sat outside until our eyes were closing.  This morning we started out lazy but joined more family in the afternoon for a Lake Safari.  The water was so choppy, we weren't sure we would make it.  We had an excellent captain commandeering the waves however and minus a few splashes and tosses, we remained upright and got to enjoy just being on the water again.  I'm so ready for summertime on the lake!

I've got all my workout clothes laid out, my new water bottle being washed and I'm about to crawl in for the night.  I hope you all had as wonderful a weekend as I did.  Wish me luck in the morning....

Peace, love, and CRAWFISH!

You said you WANT to sneeze?

Yes I did say that.  I am still saying that.  I DO want to sneeze.  I NEED to sneeze.  I'm a little sickly today which seems fitting for the dreary cold weather that has surrounded us.  Texas weather is highly tempermental and we just went from short sleeves to coats and scarves in a day.  I feel like my head is a block of stuff.  Ick.  I know if I could just sneeze that it would all be better.  I've tried two sinus rinses (courtesy of Dr. Neill-Med), two cups of hot tea, and one cup of hot chocolate with a shot of kahlua for good measure.  Oh right, and I ate 3 tomato peppers--not exactly spicy but I thought surely something would help open up my sinuses to the blessed air.  No luck of course.

Needed to run some errands but those are just gonna have to wait until tomorrow.  I don't think I can get out again.  I mean I could get out but I'm playing my misery card on that hand.  Mr. Ham is off hunting and I've been throwing myself a pity party.  He just sent a text to let me know there are snow flurries out there.  Hunting for one of the ugliest creatures alive in snow flurry weather does not sound like my kind of Friday night but hey, neither does being sickly.

Headed to Austin tomorrow for a precious friends wedding.  I'm really looking forward to celebrating with this fun couple.  I know there will be candy and cupcakes, and I can't wait!  Hopefully I'll be feeling better and ready to put on my party hat and dancing shoes.  Mr. Ham will be meeting some friends for the first time while we're there.  I don't worry about that anymore.  Everyone seems to like him.  He's easy to get along with like that.  He's a good, good guy.

And on that sappy note....I'm retiring to the couch..

Peace and Crawfish,

Happy New Year

I'm a little late in saying that but WOW, it's gotten off with quite a start! Let's see- a ski trip with good friends to Angel Fire (and let me just say I LOVED skiing!), my brother's family visiting for the first time in a while (I've missed those crazy kids so much), a trip to Ft. Worth this weekend with our newestly wed friends, and a wedding next weekend in Austin! See?! It really has started with a bang. I love it though. I love being so crazy busy that you cherish every second you get to sit down and take a deep breath.

I also know that Mr. Ham's schedule will be changing too. I've been spoiled with months of free weekends. I know he'll be working nights but I don't know which days he'll have off. Oh how I hope I get at least a little of his weekend!

Until next time..
Peace and Crawfish!

One Year?!

So it's been over a year, I thought I would do much better but here I am. Jolie keeps telling me I should get on here and update things. It's been quite a year, lots has happened. One of my best friends, Ginger, is pregnant and expecting little Grayson James in July. My little cousin is also expecting and Jordan David's ETA is September. I'm so excited about these little additions that are coming.

I just got home from an 8-day trip to Canada. It was amazing. Headed up to Nova Scotia with my Mom and we stayed in Halifax. Drove the lighthouse route to see Peggy's Cove and spent a couple of days on Prince Edward Island. Everyone was surprised that we went this time of year (tourist season doesn't really start until mid-May) but the weather was fantastic. I took some fly fishing lessons and even took in an Il Divo concert. The people there were so incredibly nice, I highly recommend the chance to go if you ever get it. I'm hoping for a chance to go back, so many things to do but just never enough time!

Went to an Old Crow Medicine Show this weekend. If you haven't seen them live, you MUST. There was so much energy, the whole place was just rocking. One of the greatest shows I've seen in a loooong time.

I watched my nephew take part in his first communion this weekend. I'm so proud of him. My two beautiful nieces and two handsome nephews are all getting so big and turning into such great kids. So much fun to watch them grow, I can't wait to see what amazing people they will continue to become.

The wind is howling...

So I started this blog about a week ago but haven't posted it until now. I'm going to be short this first time anyway. I had a great weekend, spent time with good friends, partook in the festivities otherwise known as Rodeo Houston, and got some hangtime with the neice and nephew (two of 'em anyway). Happy note: found out my cousin had a healthy baby girl today. Can't wait to see her.

Looks like I have new neighbors. They look like a friendly couple and if the weather isn't so treacherous tomorrow, I may have to introduce myself. I've been here for a month and haven't the family on the other side of me yet. Don't think I can be classified as a hermit, but....

peace and crawfish.
